Why Mama Money moved to Bank Zero

Who is Bank Zero?

Bank Zero is a South African digital bank, regulated by the South African Reserve Bank, and built from the ground up on modern technology. Unlike legacy banks designed around physical branches and older infrastructure, Bank Zero was built for the digital era: faster processing, stronger security, and the flexibility to add new features quickly.

Partnering with Bank Zero allows Mama Money to offer its customers higher limits, more functionality, and better banking capability than was possible before. The previous Access Bank partnership served customers well for its time. Bank Zero enables what comes next.

What drove the move?

Mama Money customers asked for more: higher limits for loading and sending, the ability to transfer to other South African banks, and a better app. The move to Bank Zero makes all of this possible. Mama Money is independently owned and answers only to its customers, not to investors. When the banking setup was no longer good enough, finding a better partner was the only option. That is what "Mama makes it happen" looks like in practice.
