Shop Online with Your Mama Money Card: Shein, Takealot, Uber, Spotify and More

Daily life happens online. Groceries are a tap on Sixty60. The ride home is a tap on Uber. Spotify keeps the family soundtrack going every month. And Shein or Takealot turn up when you need them. Your card should keep up with all of it.

The good news: your Mama Money Card now works at all of these. Shop, ride, stream, and order, all on the same card you already use to send money home.

What's new: subscriptions and ride-hailing now work

Until recently, some apps and services didn't work with the Mama Money Card. That has changed. Here is what is different, in plain language.

The change

Your Card can now be charged after the fact

Some shops and services don't charge your card right when you tap "pay". They save your card and charge you later, like after your Uber drops you off, or every month for Spotify, or once your Sixty60 driver arrives. Your Mama Money Card now works that way too.

That one change unlocks a lot. Rides, deliveries, monthly subscriptions, and online retailers that hold your card on file for repeat use all work with your Mama Money Card now.

Where you can use your Mama Money Card

Here are the everyday services that work now, grouped by what you would actually use them for.

🛒

Online shopping

Shein · Takealot

Save your card once at checkout, then shop as often as you like. From clothes and accessories on Shein to electronics and household items on Takealot.

🚗

Rides home

Uber · Bolt · InDrive

Save your card in the app once. After each ride, the fare is charged to your card. No fumbling for cash and no scrambling for change.

🎧

Music and streaming

Spotify

Pay your monthly subscription on the same date each month, charged to your card. You can cancel or change your plan any time in the app.

🍳

Groceries on demand

Checkers Sixty60

Order your groceries, the driver shops and delivers, and your card is charged once your order is on the way to your door.

How "charged after the fact" actually works

Three simple steps, and the same pattern for all the services above.

1
Save your card

The first time you use a service, you enter your Mama Money Card details in the app or on the website. The service saves your card for next time.

2
Use the service

Take a ride. Add things to your basket on Sixty60. Stream music. Add a shirt to your Shein cart. You do not have to do anything different.

3
The charge happens after

Once the ride ends, your delivery arrives, or your monthly subscription comes due, your Mama Money Card is charged. You will see the charge in your Mama Money app under transactions.

You can see every charge in your Mama Money app under transactions. If something doesn't look right, you can freeze your card right there in the app, then call support on +27 64 802 8428 to investigate.

Tips for shopping safely online

A few simple habits keep your card and your money safe online. Most of it is common sense, but it is worth a quick refresher.

  • Use the official app or website. If a link in a message looks odd, don't tap it. Open the app yourself instead.
  • Check for the padlock. Look for the padlock icon and "https" in the address bar before entering your card.
  • Use strong passwords. A unique password for each shopping account is best. Don't reuse the same one everywhere.
  • Check your transactions. Open the Mama Money app every few days. Every charge is there for you to see.
  • Act fast if something looks wrong. Freeze your card in the app right away, then call support to investigate. You can unfreeze it once everything is sorted.
