Once your Mama Money order has been paid for. You and your recipient will receive an SMS with a reference number.Your recipient will require identification and will need to present this reference number at the cash collection location to receive their money.
You can choose to pay for your order via online banking or EFT. You can also pay with cash at any of our retail partners such as Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Spar, Makro, Game, Flash stores, etc. If you pay with cash, you will receive a reference number in an SMS that we’ll send to you. Present this reference number to our retailer partners and pay the exact amount of cash to complete your order.
Transfers to mobile wallets and cash collection are sent within minutes. Transfers to bank accounts, on average, take 5 hours to be received but can take up to 48 hours to reflect, depending on the recipient’s institution.
Mama’s fee is 5% or less for sending money to Botswana. It depends on how much you send. If you send R1,000, the fee will be R50, and If you send R10,000, the fee will be R250
If you are sending to a wallet in Botswana there are Limits for your Recipient otherwise you are only limited by South African Limits.
